Before a first order, buyers of custom paper clips usually land on the same six questions. We answer them the way we answer them on a real quote — honest about where a number depends on your input, and not pretending one number fits every job.
What is the minimum order quantity?
MOQ is tied to the finish and the shape, not just “a clip.” A common shape in a standard plating has a lower MOQ than a one-off silhouette in a special colour, because each shape needs its own wire and bending step. The exact figure for your shape and finish comes back with your quote — if a supplier gives you a single MOQ number for everything, that is a reason to slow down.
How does sampling work?
For custom shapes we hold a pre-production sample gate: a physical sample of the exact shape and finish is approved before the bulk run. This is the single most effective protection against a batch that looks different from the sample you liked. Approval of that sample is the go/no-go point for the order.
What lead time should I plan?
Plan lead time as sample + bulk + shipping, not just bulk. The sampling step has its own window, and the logo method (stamped vs printed vs engraved) adds setup time on top. If you have an event date, give us that date and we work backwards — that is more useful to us than a “how fast can you do it” question.
How is packing configured?
Packing is set to your destination market: bulk, polybag, or retail-ready blister, with labels and barcodes formatted for where the goods land. For event favors that go on a branded card, the card itself is a packing choice we configure with the finish. Confirm the packing format early because it changes cost per unit.
Will the second batch match the first?
Yes — that is a controlled part of the process. Once your shape, finish and plating colour are approved on the pre-production sample, we lock the spec to the order file, so repeat orders match batch one. That is the difference between a one-off favour and a shape you re-order season after season.
